Chef Alan Yu visited two farms during his visit in March to get a great kiwi experience of what farm life is like in New Zealand.
Firstly at Northbank Station in Canterbury, Alan met with Adam Waite and had a good talk about the operations of his farm and how they look after the venison. Watch some of their discussion:
One of the key aspects and selling points of Mountain River Venison is the healthy free-range lifestyle that our herds enjoy, which in turn helps in producing the highest quality venison product. Chef Alan Yu witnessed this first hand the free range lifestyle and was impressed with scale of the operations.
Next, Alan also made a flying visit to Minaret Station, a short helicopter flight away from Queenstown.
Alan posted on his WeChat: “Minaret Station, strike me with its name, fits the environment perfectly. It was hidden in the deepest wilds of the Southern Alps that it is only accessible by helicopter. This is New Zealand’s one and only alpine lodge, breathtakingly beautiful!!”
All in all Chef Alan Yu had an enjoyable time lapping up the beautiful New Zealand scenery and visiting some of the best farms in the South Island. We look forward to seeing him back here again soon!
